Casa de Penguin

We've been here in California for a little over two weeks now.

Here's what we've done during that time:

  • New flooring throughout the whole house

  • New fridge

  • New dryer

  • New paint throughout the whole house

  • Alarm system and smart thermostat

  • New bed because of issues moving the old one

I have added a considerable mountain to my list of bills to pay. But, the house no longer has the awful brown carpet, the rooms that smelled of cats no longer do, the floor looks great, and boxes have been moved to their respective rooms so that we can begin unpacking.

All in all, it's a slow process. Dani and I both have our day jobs and usually start our days around 6am. So, when we get off work, the drive to start doing much more pretty much isn't there. That's okay, though. We've got all the time in the world to do so.

Some of the next things on our 'list' of things to get done are to pressure wash the patio in the back yard. It's covered in paint and kids drawings. Get some book shelves assembled to get the gaming space organized. Put the 3d printer and crafting desks together in my office. Clean up the front and back yards.

It's definitely been a busy few weeks. I imagine that it will continue to be like that for awhile to come. What matters, though, is that we're here. In our own home. Together.
