So it begins

Money has been wired into escrow. Home inspection of the new house takes place on Wednesday of this week. After that, there will be a mountain of paperwork to sign.

We had originally planned to be here in Minnesota until about the end of May. But, that has changed as well. With a 25-day escrow, we'll likely be arriving in California at the end of April or beginning of May with our belongings landing shortly afterward.

So, yay for being home a month earlier than planned. Boooooo because we'd been really counting on having another months-worth of paychecks. It doesn't cripple us, but the extra would've been really fantastic to have for moving expenses.

And speaking of moving expenses - the POD container will arrive late next month for us to begin moving things along with some movers. Bye, $4200 - but, Dani talked to one of her brother's last night and it'd be great if he and some friends could come through and we'd be able to save a bunch of money.

Because the POD is only so big, we are faced with the task of downsizing what we don't need in order to transport the stuff we do need.

That's a lot of what we did this weekend. I went through stuff in my office and files and shredded a couple of large trashbags full of stuff, tossed a few hundred old CDs away after file-shredding those, and began the process of packing the little stuff away to get the space cleaned-out. The loft is also cleaned-out (as much as we could) and then the bedroom will be next before we make our way to the downstairs, and finally the basement.

In closing, we've got about a month ahead of us and there just never seems to be enough time to pack everything and be ready.
